Prof. Wenle Xia Joins Anji Biotech as Chief Advisor

On May 19, 2022, Nanjing Anji Biotech Co., Ltd. formally appointed Dr. (Professor) Wenle Xia as Chief Advisor of its Scientific Committee. Dr. Hanmei Xu, the company's founder and Chief Scientist, formally presented the Chief Scientific Advisor appointment certificate to Dr. Xia, and both parties reached a cooperation intention.

Dr. (Professor) Wenle Xia joined the research center of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK, USA) in 1999, where he established and headed the Translational Oncology laboratory. In 2006, Duke University School of Medicine exceptionally appointed Dr. Xia as Professor of Medicine and Director of the Translational Oncology laboratory. During his time at GSK, Dr. Xia led his team in successfully developing lapatinib, the first-generation anti-breast-cancer drug. The development of this drug is regarded by the international pharmaceutical community as a model of translational medicine in targeted therapy drug development. Dr. Xia's research has received numerous honors, including GSK's Outstanding Scientific Research Award and Outstanding Contribution Award. His research results have been published in leading international journals such as Science Signaling, JCO, PNAS and Cancer Research. Dr. Xia is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, a peer reviewer for several American professional journals, and holds multiple international invention patents. He previously served as Chief Scientific Officer of Yangzijiang Pharmaceutical.

At the appointment ceremony, Dr. Xia stated that he accepted the invitation to join Anji Biotech out of full recognition of the scientific research and translational capabilities of the company's founder, Dr. Hanmei Xu, in the peptide field, and of the company's recent advances and development in peptide new drug technologies, platforms and product pipelines. He looks forward to working hand in hand with Anji Biotech to continuously enrich and advance the company's existing peptide new drug R&D programs and enhance Anji Biotech's international competitiveness and influence.

Dr. Hanmei Xu stated that she was delighted that Dr. Xia would join Anji Biotech. In addition to its existing pipelines, Anji Biotech holds a large reserve of innovative peptide drug candidates pending development. The company has filed more than 90 invention patents, comparable to the number held by PeptiDream, an international peptide company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Dr. Xia's joining will help Anji Biotech bring its peptide new drugs to market sooner, bringing benefits to patients, and will help the company rapidly grow into an internationally competitive leading peptide biotech company.
