On March 18, 2022, Nanjing Anji Biotech Co., Ltd. held a scientific advisor appointment meeting in its conference room. At the meeting, Anji Biotech appointed Professor Jean Martinez as its scientific advisor. Dr. Hanmei Xu, the company's Chairman and Chief Scientist, formally presented the appointment certificate, and both parties reached a cooperation intention.

Professor Jean Martinez has many years of medicinal chemistry experience. He served as Director of the Biomolécules Max Mousseron Institute, Vice President of the University of Montpellier, Professor of Organic and Medicinal Chemistry, Director of the Laboratory of Amino Acids, Peptides and Proteins, President of the French Peptide and Protein Society (1994-2001), French representative of the European Peptide Society (1991-1998), and President of the European Peptide Society (2001-2010). His research covers peptide synthesis (synthetic methods, peptidomimetic synthesis, synthesis of peptide analogues, enzyme inhibitors, cyclic peptides and polymers), solution-phase and solid-phase synthesis, combinatorial chemistry, neuropeptide pharmacology, peptide receptors, mass spectrometry and protein synthesis. He has published more than 800 international papers, authored 4 books and filed 48 patents, and has successfully developed and launched one new peptide drug.

Previously, Nanjing Anji Biotech Co., Ltd. had a good cooperation history with Professor Jean Martinez:

Ø In June 2016, at the 14th Chinese International Peptide Symposium and the 5th Asia-Pacific International Peptide Symposium, Dr. Hanmei Xu, the company's Chairman and Chief Scientist, served as conference chair and had in-depth exchanges with Professor Jean Martinez of the University of Montpellier, France, signing a cooperation agreement with the Laboratory of Amino Acids, Peptides and Proteins of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Montpellier.

Ø From December 2016 to January 2017, three outstanding students from Dr. Hanmei Xu's research group visited the Laboratory of Amino Acids, Peptides and Proteins at the University of Montpellier to broaden their horizons and learn from the laboratory's strengths in research management.

Ø On July 2, 2018, Professor Jean Martinez and two other professors visited Nanjing, toured Nanjing Anji Biotech Co., Ltd., and were appointed as foreign expert advisors of the company. At the appointment ceremony, Professor Jean Martinez formally proposed the AJ011 project; afterwards, the company and Professor Martinez carried out in-depth cooperation on the project.

Ø In December 2018, the AJ011 project received government funding from the Nanjing International Joint R&D Project and was successfully completed by the Nanjing International Cooperation Office in December 2020.

Ø From 2019 to 2021, affected by the pandemic, Professor Jean Martinez continued to cooperate with Nanjing Anji Biotech Co., Ltd. through online communication and delivered multiple online lectures for the company's technical team.
Based on this long-standing, solid cooperation, on March 18, 2022, Anji Biotech continued to appoint Professor Jean Martinez as its scientific advisor at the appointment meeting. At the meeting, Professor Martinez used the new drug Macrilen, developed under the lead of the University of Montpellier, as an example to share with the technical team the journey of new drug development from basic research to FDA approval in 2017. The company's technical team and Professor Jean Martinez also exchanged in-depth views on the latest results of their collaborative anti-aging peptide project. Finally, Dr. Hanmei Xu, Chairman and Chief Scientist, wished Professor Jean Martinez and Anji Biotech even greater achievements in their cooperation, and the meeting concluded in a harmonious atmosphere.
